I arrive in London at 7 a.m. coach carly leather handbags, have a full English breakfast ($13) at an Italian place in South Ken, and take a taxi ($24) to Covent Garden to see Christopher Kane’s show. Kane is part of the latest English revival, along with Marios Schwab and Todd Lynn, and the magazines Pop and 10 Beats By Dr.Dre Tour, which are having parties this week. I notice on the invitation to the 10 party tonight that Krispy Kreme is a sponsor — Krispy Kreme and Moet & Chandon. While having my bacon and eggs this morning, with a lake of baked beans, I read in the Mirror that there’s a campaign to ban 0-size models. I guess fat-dispensing sponsors are O.K., though.

Kane’s show is in a basement off the piazza in Covent Garden. Manolo Blahnik is in the front row. So are Michael Roberts of Vanity Fair, Julie Gilhart of Barneys, Hamish Bowles of American Vogue and Carla Sozzani, the owner of Corso Como 10 in Milan. Last season Kane, who has worked as a consultant at Versace, showed minidresses with bandage wrapping and insets of lacing. Today his predominant look was a flaring minidress in fluted black leather or crushed red velvet, a shape evocative of Alaïa mexico Soccer Jersey, with metal hardware rings and chains added to the waist.
