MAC Launch Away! Blush

The Glossover

MAC Launch Away! Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “true peach” with a satin finish. It looks a little pinked in the pot Coach Outlet, but it’s more like a darkened peach–in the pot. On me, though, it turns rather pink! It’s a light-medium peony pink with warm undertones and a subtle sheen. MAC Crew is warmer and a touch darker, and this is noticeable on the cheeks, too–but Crew is also less buildable and pigmented compared to Launch Away! MAC Flower Fantasy is lighter and has a higher sheen. Chanel Brompton Road is a bit lighter and shows up less on the cheeks. Benefit Hervana is darker and sheerer. Burberry Peony is very similar but has more of a true matte finish.

It has the same drier, stiffer texture of Fleet Fast, which is typical of MAC blushes, especially of their satin finished blushes. The powder is soft to the touch and applies smoothly.  The finish of Launch Away! is very subtle–the sheen is barely there and almost imperceptible once applied.  It builds up easily and gave my cheeks noticeable color without having to pile it on, but it is a paler, lighter shade, so it would not be ideal for deeper skin tones–particularly because the drier texture paired with the near-matte finish can look chalky on darker complexions.  When I wore this one for wear, it managed just under seven hours and started to decline and fade after that.

Illusion

The Glossover

Mirage is a subtly red-toned brown with an pale, bluish-teal iridescent sheen. It’s smooth to apply and opaque in color. It’s more subdued than the shades that are, inevitably, still quite similar: Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone Coach Outlet Online, MAC Double Feature #7 (and also MAC Club, MAC Blue Brown), and Urban Decay Lounge. Mirage is less red-based and comes off grayer in contrast. Overall, it appears darker and more muted, but it is still similar to the aforementioned shades.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals The Vision Eyeshadow Duo
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals The Vision Eyeshadow Duo

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals The Vision Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) contains two shades: Illusion and Mirage. The duo will debut in October, and it’s touted as a solid eyeshadow with SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that is “creamy, silky smooth” with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color” that is long-wearing when worn alone without creasing or budging. When worn alone, I was able to wear several of the new duos for 10 hours without an eyeshadow primer. For more details on packaging, please read my original review.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow Duos: The Vision

Illusion is a pale, sky blue with a near matte finish. It’s very, light and pastel, but it’s not at all chalky–which is hard to do in a shade this light–and the color payoff is excellent. There is no dryness here, just really soft, smooth color.  If I want to be nit picky, there is the faintest amount of powderiness when used heavily, but it doesn’t translate during application, and there is no residual fall out when worn.  It’s a touch lighter but more opaque than MAC Sky Blue, more opaque and less metallic than Giorgio Armani Airy Jade, lighter and brighter than Inglot #367, less shimmered (and more opaque) than Cle de Peau #112, and a touch lighter than Make Up For Ever #150.

Where to Buy: October 2011 at Bare Escentuals, Sephora, $20

Single Ladies applies flawlessly; it really has an amazing formula that’s not too thick or too thin, wonderfully pigmented, and applies without bubbling, streaking, or pooling. There’s a natural shine when it dries, though I advise a top coat for a glossy finish. I’ve had excellent wear with Deborah Lippmann’s formula–typically a week with very minimal tip wear with no chipping.

Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer
Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “flirtatious red” with a cream finish. The color description could be more helpful! It’s a rich, deep brown red that’s opaque in two coats. This kind of red has a lot of similar shades available Coach Factory Outlet Online, including: MAC Blueblood (darker), China Glaze Velvet Bow (can’t see any differences), Urban Decay Wrecked (darker), MAC Purple Majesty (less brown, darker), Zoya Anja (darker), and Rescue Beauty Lounge Drifter (purpler)–and that’s just naming a few.

It’s a rather translucent color, which means that it will often look different depending on the natural coloring of your lips. For instance, if you have a lot more natural pigmentation, this will look less pale/light. On me, it adds some warmth and makes my lip color look more even, but it doesn’t add a whole lot of color. If you like the idea of a “nude” in the sense of a soft way to de-emphasize your natural lip color while adding warmth, this would be a good pick.

Revlon Creme Brulee Colorburst Lip Butter

Creme Brulee is a wearable, everyday kind of shade, and the texture is creamy and has a lot of slip, so it glides across lips easily and leaves behind a glossy sheen. Unfortunately, the slip also contributes to a very short wear time–a mere hour! I typically get four hours of the average lipstick (that isn’t touted as long-wearing). It contains a little less product than the average lipstick (typically 0.10 to 0.12 oz.) and requires frequent reapplication, but it is a more moisturizing formula.

The Glossover

Revlon Creme Brulee ColorBurst Lip Butter ($7.49 for 0.09 oz.) is a sheer light-medium brown with peach shimmer and subtle warm undertones. Guerlain Ne M’oubliez Pas is more opaque, slightly darker. NARS Pago Pago is pinker. MAC Lush Amber is very similar.

Name to Know Dev

ELLE: Let’s talk about those Ke$ha comparisons…
Dev: I think people are going to compare and that’s all good. I kind of just take it and roll with it, because they don’t know me yet personally. I think that once they get to know me, they’ll realize how much Ke$ha’s her own artist and I’m my own artist. But I can’t really complain, because she’s very successful.

If you’ve turned on the radio in the past year—or gone to a club, or bar, or store http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, or walked outside—you’ve heard Far East Movement’s 2011 ubiquitous smash “Like A G6.” In fact, there’s a good chance you’ve sung the catchy-as-hell chorus in the shower and that part, specifically, comes courtesy of Dev. The newcomer’s album has been pushed back over and over again (she’s given birth in the meantime), but with a SXSW gig lined up next week, her album debut on March 27th, and a national tour kicking off soon after, she’s about to be known for a lot more than a catchy chorus. The Night the Sun Came Up is stuffed with feisty, dance pop bangers and dreamy electro ballads. We Skyped with a raspy-voiced Dev from her hotel room in Dallas, where, in true rock star form, she donned massive sunglasses and dished on her booty-bouncing tour and her obsession with reality television.

ELLE: You’ve got a duet with Enrique Iglesias! How did that come together?
Dev: That song was at first originally just me, and then we decided it’d be really cool if we added a male vocal. We wanted something a bit more sexy and mature. He’s so caliente! We tried it out and it sounded so pretty, so we kept running with it. He was on tour, so he kind of did me this massive favor of getting on the record. I was like 8 1/2 months pregnant so we didn’t record it in the studio together at the same time, but I guess that’s the beauty of music in 2012. Like, “Click http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, send, okay, cool! I like the record!”

ELLE: What pop records are you addicted to at the moment?
Dev: I love all of Drake, obviously. I love Rihanna’s Cake record—I think it’s great. A little interesting that she did the remix with Chris Brown. But at the end of the day, the record stands on its own.

ELLE: Your album was actually released in the UK ages ago…
Dev: It was supposed to come out [in America] literally a week later, but it got pushed back like five months so everyone pretty much already has the album, which is all good. I just haven’t toured for the album yet, so I’m excited.

ELLE: Tell us about your banging on-stage style. Where do you shop?
Dev: I work a lot with this women’s brand called Hells Bells. They’re kind of like a street wear-meets-high fashion sort of a thing. That’s kind of what I rock with at all times. On stage, I just like to be super comfortable. Sometimes I’ll even be in sneaker or sometimes I’ll be in massive heels. It just really depends on the place and how comfortable I am, but it’s nothing as extravagant as Gaga or anything like that. She holds it down in that world.

ELLE: Has motherhood affected your performing?
Dev: I think if anything, it made me more confident which is weird because when I was pregnant, I didn’t think that would happen. I thought I wouldn’t want to talk about certain things http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, I wouldn’t want to dress a certain way once the baby came out and dur, dur dur! But I actually feel sexier now, which is kind of strange and really cool.

ELLE: As expected, there’s lots of electro bangers on the album, but you’re also revealing a softer side on songs like “Dancing Shoes”…
Dev: This is my introduction. This is like, “Hi I’m Dev” to the entire world. I want to give listeners a record [on which] they can really hear me as a whole. I want to do these club tracks that I’m really good at making and they’re really fun to perform, but I also want to show people that I have a heart and a soul and stories and I’ve lived a life. I’m not just literally drunk all the time. I think that was needed. Hopefully after people hear it, people will be able to tell I’m really a breathing, human being.

ELLE: And TV?
Dev: I love all reality television. I’m addicted to all of the Housewives. I talk about them like I know them personally. I used to love when Bethenny was on New York. I like the Jersey Housewives though; I think they’re all absolutely insane. And with the Atlanta one http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, I love Phaedra. But you wanna know who the real star is? I’m gonna tell ya: The real star is Big Ang from Mob Wives. She is definitely the real superstar of all reality television.

ELLE: What can we expect from the tour?
Dev: It’s going to be really cool. We’ve been putting a lot of hard work into it lately. Obviously I didn’t get to tour much the last couple months because I was having a baby. I wanted to come full-force. I’m gonna have two girls on stage with me who are gonna be doing back-up vocals and if I need them to bounce their booties, I think they’re gonna do that too. It should be hot. It’s going to be an hour long set of pretty much everything on the album.
