Dutch youth training expert Jan Olde Riekerink was appointed on Wednesday as coach of the Chinese youth soccer team.
The Chinese Football Association (CFA) signed a five-year contract with the 48-year-old Dutch, who previously worked as head of youth development in Dutch giants Ajax.
Riekerink is expected to steer the youth team, currently under 18 years old, into the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil. He will also help to improve youth training system for Chinese football.
"I am proud to guide the Olympic team. And I am proud to be responsible for the youth education in China and to help build the youth program," said an ambitious Riekerink during Wednesday's press conference.
"I had a great belief and a great hope that with the experience I have, I will make contribution to Chinese youth football, and guide the Olympic team for the next level."
The former Chinese Olympic squad,Coach Factory Store, led by Croatian coach Miroslav Blazevic, suffered an early exit on their way to the London Olympic Games, eliminated by Omen in June.
Riekerink has eight years of experience coaching the youth teams at different level in Ajax from 1995 to 2002 and his shining moment came in the 2001-2002 season when he led the Ajax U23 team to reach the semifinals of the Dutch Cup.
Local coach Li Bing and Ha Wei were also named in the coach team to assist the Dutch and the CFA is planning to appoint an assistant coach and a physical trainer, both from abroad, to add into the coaching staff.
China named Spanish tactician Jose Antonio Camacho on Sunday and Riekerink reiterated he would work together with the Spaniard, who was hailed by the CFA as "general designer" of China's youth training system.
"I am incredibly happy for China that they could sign a coach with such a big name. And I have big respect for Camacho. And also with Mr Camacho we have to be a team. We have to work together,Coach Outlet Online," said Riekerink.
"I am looking forward to meeting Camacho. I am curious about Camacho's opinion, because I think we are here together. And I hope we can build up good relationship that will be beneficial for China."
